The Cookery was conceived by Dania Gold Namdar as the natural outgrowth of her love for developing and preparing delicious recipes. What began as a hobby happily became a professional business.

Dania was brought up with wholesome and fresh ingredients in the family kitchen, and this heritage translated naturally into her own work as a chef.
In the late 90’s, she started cooking vegetarian food, and soon branched out into other cooking styles and dietary frameworks: vegan foods, raw foods, gluten free baking, low sodium and low sugar cooking. Dania also researched healing foods and herbs.

In early 2006 after spending nearly a decade honing her craft, Dania began selling cooked and packed organic vegan meals at Sai Organics, a well established health foods store in Astoria NY.
Later, as a team member of Gobo, a widely reviewed vegetarian restaurant, Dania crafted special dishes for the restaurant’s menu. These dishes quickly became customer favorites.
Dania continues to create her own new recipes, cook for private households and cater dinner parties, and continues her ongoing search for new ingredients to explore.

Dania Gold Namdar has also worked as a graphic designer, calligrapher, and ketubah designer. And of course she spent many years working in NYC restaurants garnering experience in virtually every position including manager, server and kitchen consultant.

Dania lives in Brooklyn, and is currently studying to be an Alexander Technique Teacher.
